Jess is a member of the newly formed ASBP (Alliance for Sustainable Building Products) Plastics Technical Working Group. The group was founded in response to the call for knowledge, research and innovation around the use of plastics in the construction industry following the ASBP’s Plastics and Healthy Buildings Conference in February 2019.
“There is a real opportunity to build upon the years of plastics research and the recent increase in public awareness to use plastics more responsibly and consider practical approaches for plastic use within the built environment”

Comprising of a representative group of cross-sector industry professionals (the group consists of designers, specifiers, consultants as well as contractors and product manufacturers), the group will meet quarterly to advance knowledge and innovation about the use of plastics within the construction industry- sharing successes and hurdles within the supply chain and design process. An initial focus has been on understanding boundaries of influence of key players within the supply chain to exert reduction in the use of single-use plastics within the construction industry. Future work will include case study materials that disseminate positive news, training guides as well as research plugging knowledge gaps within the sector by collaborating with other organisations that share similar aims] .
