Job Title: Net Zero & Climate Change Adaptation Strategy Consultant (Senior Grade) 

Location: Hybrid (Bath) 2-3 days a week in the office 

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Net Zero & Climate Change Adaptation Strategy Consultant to join our team. With at least 5 years of industry experience, you will play a key role in supporting our clients as they develop, coordinate, and implement strategies for carbon reduction and climate resilience. This position will involve working across a diverse range of sectors, including higher education, cultural heritage, research, and grant-giving organisations. The ideal candidate will bring fresh perspectives to challenge the status quo and find innovative solutions that address the pressing issues of climate adaptation and sustainability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of net zero and climate change adaptation strategies, covering organisational assets, operations, and supply chains 

  • Conduct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions assessments and carbon footprint analyses in line with the GHG Protocol

  • Set and monitor GHG emissions scenarios, reduction targets, and climate adaptation pathways to enhance resilience 

  • Ensure alignment with key voluntary reporting frameworks, including the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)

  • Provide guidance on energy and carbon policy developments, compliance, and best practices in both mitigation and adaptation 

  • Manage projects effectively from inception to completion, tracking progress and ensuring high-quality outcomes

  • Develop business cases and impact assessments to support client decision-making on investments in sustainability and climate resilience. 


Qualifications & Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainability consulting, carbon management, climate adaptation, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of energy and carbon policies, along with hands-on experience in carbon compliance, reporting, and climate adaptation planning

  • Proven ability to interpret and apply frameworks such as SBTi, TCFD, TNFD, and ISSB

  • Experience in setting and tracking carbon reduction targets, as well as in developing climate resilience strategies 

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences

  • Proficiency in project management and a demonstrated track record of delivering impactful results

  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in sustainability, environmental science, or a related field. 


Desirable Skills

  • In-depth understanding of climate change adaptation frameworks, with experience in implementing strategies for resilience and adaptation 

  • Experience in stakeholder consultation, facilitation, and engagement, particularly with senior-level clients

  • Proven ability to secure new business and contribute to project proposals

  • Commercial awareness and familiarity with evidence-based approaches to sustainability research and modelling.
