Polly Chappell

Sustainability Consultant

BSc | MSc

Polly joined 3Adapt with a determined ambition to apply her knowledge in practical ways. She can develop strategies that create economic and societal value while safeguarding and enhancing environmental resources and services.

Through obtaining her degree in Geography, Polly developed a comprehensive understanding of interactions between human and environmental systems. She then furthered her expertise in corporate sustainability strategies through a focused master's degree in Management and Sustainability. During her time at university, she held advisory positions in sustainability strategy for various institutions and stakeholders, ranging from assisting SME managers with their net zero targets to collaborating with university boards on education strategies and providing data analysis and consulting services West Cheshire Foodbank.

Since joining 3ADAPT, Polly has contributed to organizational emission calculation and decarbonization projects, including those for Cultural organisations and local authorities. Data collection and analysis are key activities in carbon baselining, while stakeholder engagement is crucial in developing appropriate aspirational decarbonization pathways and associated activity planning. Polly has played a key role in facilitating workshops to collectively shape these strategies.

Polly has taken the lead in conducting research and report writing to create an evidence review for UKRI's offsetting position statement. In this role, she effectively communicated the carbon offset market and its complexities, and explored alternative approaches to climate contributions.

Furthermore, she is actively developing expertise in risk management and has contributed to a climate change risk assessment for the Royal Botanical Kew Gardens. Polly is currently expanding this to include sustainable procurement. Forward-thinking and proactive organizations are increasingly addressing Scope 3 emissions and supply chain management. Polly is incorporating guidance from the SBT initiative and the ISO 20400 standard to inform her work on sustainable and low-carbon supply chain strategies, risk management and supplier engagement.
